About Us

We were both two graduate/professional students who coped with New England winters and with our studies by cooking–now the “Am” in Em and Am has graduated and works as a lawyer in D.C.  We realized before that happened that in planning our cooking days together and talking about our own individual cooking, we were basically writing a blog by e-mail, so we decided – why not let other people read our ramblings?  And learn from our extensive recipe experimentation?

In addition, we wanted to to make sure we can keep cooking “together” even if we’re not in the same state.

When we cook food together (which we still do at least once a year, per the Smitten Kitchen Club rules), one of us writes up the recipe but the “author” of the post is “Emily & Amanda.”  When we cook food apart, it’s less fun but it needs to happen, and sometimes it results in decent food we want to share with you, so we write them up under our individual “Amanda” or “Emily” accounts.

What a fun and yummy idea! I just spent the last fifteen minutes looking at some of your entries. I also subscribed to your blog. I can hardly wait to spend some more time here! If there are any special ingredients you want from sunny Arizona, let me know!
